Backing up Logic Pro X sound library - Music: Practice & Theory Stack Exchange.

Is it Jeremy NI , Aug 6, No Jeremy, I'm using Mojave Messages: 6, Kymeia , Aug 9, Thanks for your note, yes, I understand that they are different things, but my confusion was due to the fact that while the Kontrol standalone application shows the instruments, inside Logic show me the empty library message. If you delete Logic Pro content that is required for a patch or software instrument, Logic Pro prompts you to re-download that content the next time you try to use the patch or instrument.
While additional content is downloading, a progress bar appears in the lower part of the LCD. You can view more detailed information about the progress of the download by clicking the progress bar.
Items in the Library and the Loop Browser that require additional content are indicated by a Download button. In Logic Pro, click the Download button next to the item name. The Relocate Sound Library window opens, showing available drives and the free space available on each. Unsuitable drives are dimmed, with the reason for their unsuitability shown in the Comments column.
The Sound Library is relocated to the selected location. Apple Loops, Impulse Responses, and third-party content is not included when moving or relocating the sounds.
From here, we can see an itemized list of the included content packs that make up the Logic Pro Sound Library. Simply click the checkboxes of the packs you want to download and hit install.
Although these days it does seems like better performance and lesser capacity for a more concentrated library of sound content is the way to go for us. Let us know in the comments below which storage options are working best for you. Do not rename the external drive after this transfer has been made.
